pink

I finished knitting the first lacy pink gift sock. How cute is this?

The pattern calls for a loop and button to close the lace cuff. I dug through my buttons and came up with a few possibilities:

balloons,

kitty,

classic, traditional pearl,

and tiny basic white.

I haven't decided which one I like best. There is also the possibility of just stitching the cuff edges together and foregoing the button and loop. There is plenty of stretch for putting the sock on without the opening.

Keeping in mind that these socks will be worn by a ten year old girl, what do you think is the best option?

The button makes this sock extra special and fun, I would not leave it out. Except for the ballon button I like them all. I'm so out of touch with children, I don't know what they like, but I would guess the kitty button would be a hit. Oh, and such a lovely sock it is, love the color and the pattern.

I agree with Monika, on all points. I don't know much at all about 10 yr. old girls though!

Love the socks!

I vote for the neutral pearl.

She may love the kitty, or she may hate the kitty and never wear the socks because of it.

Or, at the between age of ten, she may love the kitty today and hate the kitty before she outgrows the socks.

Well I just asked my 8 y/o which one she preferred and she liked the kitty button best. She also asked if this would be worn to school or someplace dressy. That would depend on which button to use. To me, the lace makes it a bit dressy so I chose the pearl button.
HTH!!

It is adorable!

I agree with the other comments that it depends on what she likes, children and adults can be very finicky. That said, the inner child in me chooses the balloons. :)

I think either the plain pearl, or the plain white, the socks are already beautiful they dont need much else!! Great job!
