getting organized

We have a spare bedroom. I've been using the knitting machine there since I got it. It's not a large room but the southern window provides lots of light. It was home to a queen size bed for guests. We don't get a lot of guests so I decided that the room would make a great crafts room.

I finally persuaded the guys to haul the bed downstairs into storage (sorry, future guests) and I moved my bins of yarn and fiber up. There was an old bridge table in storage downstairs so it came up too. Along with a small bookshelf for the knitting, spinning, dyeing books and patterns, I now have a crafts room.

Behold...
The exercise ball is there to be stored but maybe I will use it when I'm working at the table.

My foldable blocking board fits on the card table just fine. Both my iron (boo, hisss - I hate ironing!) and my steamer are in this room, handy for blocking pieces of machine knitting garments.

I even got organized to the point of labelling the non-transparent bins with pictures of their contents. As Craig Ferguson would say, "I know!" Sometimes I scare myself.

I love the idea of labeling the non-transparent bins with pics of the stash inside it.

You took PICTURES of the stuff in your BINS and then labeled the aforementioned bins with their CONTENT??!!

As soon as I quit rolling around the floor I will have to say that you have waaay too much...

Oh wait... I seem to remember doing something similar for Ravelry...

That is one big bin! I've outgrown my Tower of Rubbermaid and am attempting to seriously knit down the stash because I have run out of places to put all this yarn!

Oh Susan, please come to my house. I have a room ..... da .. da ... da ... da... that I'm sometimes scared to go in to. I can't seem to get a grip on the mess and organize it. I'd send you a picture but I know you would think it was the results of a tornado. I have vowed not to buy any more yarn, fabric, fiber, or craft patterns until I get my UFOs under control. But any suggestions on how to organize years of stashing would be most welcome.

I just went to your blog, havefaith, and you seriously have better things to do with your time just now than worry about organizing anything. That puppy is gorgeous!!

My only suggestion for organization is to move. That's the only sure-fire way to organize your home. I haven't moved since 1982. I'm pretty comfortable with disorganization most of the time. You should have seen that spare room before I tackled it. There was so much stuff piled on the bed that we didn't even know what was there.
