Color me stupid=a blog contest

When I was setting up my crafts room recently I realized that I have two copies of Sally Melville's The Knitting Experience, Book 3: Color. I obviously had a little memory loss problem when I bought the second copy. While I love Sally Melville's books with a passion, I don't need two copies of the same book.

So.... I will start another blog contest with one of the copies of the book as its prize. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment telling me your favorite color(s). It would help my dyeing if you also tell me your favorite color combinations and how intense or subtle you like them.

Please make sure that you leave an email link for me to contact you if you win. If you don't, I won't be able to use your entry for the draw.

One entry per person please. Additional entries will eliminate you from the draw.

I'll use a random number generator to determine a winner on Monday, May 19, 2008 at 10:00 p.m. Central Standard Time.

(p.s. the dog paw in the lower left of the picture is not included in the prize package)

It depends on the day. I really love your yarn in the top left hand corner......bright colors and highly saturated. Being a plus size, I tend to be more conserative in my outter wear....socks are the true me.

I feel your pain! While I haven't bought two of the same book, I *have* bought two of the same issue of knitting magazines, and have come close on more than one occasion when buying videos for my kids! :)

My favorite color is blue - most of my wardrobe is some variation of blue. I lean towards the darker versions, but in my knitting I'm into a lot of lace and like the shaded monochromatic variations.

(I can't leave an email address - but have left my blog address, you can reach me there.)

purples more on the blue side than red. and teals, blue-greens oh bliss!

i like really saturated intense colors, especially in roving. in yarns i also like pastels, but i find in rovings the pastes tend to washout too much and become dull looking.

My favorite colors are blues and greens. I really like when mixed colors are in really small bits throughout the skein. They can be all hues and intensities. I just used some Colinette Jitterbug that was dyed this way. Delicious. And no pooling (although I don't mind pooling all that much). This post had me giggling, don't know why. I enjoy your color choices.
My favorites are primary colors in bold bright swipes. Something else I really enjoy is what some refer to as seasonal mixes, like the autumn colors, spring colors, summer and winter. ANd then about my favorite color mix is when a color is manipulated by light and dark and grey. Color is just so important in all ways. HArd to just pick one.

Fun contest! I saw your post on the Townsend KAL. My favorite combinations for sock yarn tend to be blues and greens (together or separately) and/or red, orange, and yellow. Brights!

My preferences tend to change, but lately I'm into blues and purples, maybe with a little green thrown in. I like the colors to be soft, and the changes from color to color to be subtle.

My mostest favouritest colour is bright, striking, vibrant red ... but it looks awful on me. My favourite colour to wear is a subdued, bright blue - does that make sense? Here goes trying to explain that, bright but not garish, a lighter blue but NOT light blue, and definitely not a watered down navy blue. A tinge of white either merged or tapered in looks good and on one occasion a striped sweater with white stripes 2/3 the size of my hard to describe "blue" looked fantabulous. Hope you followed all that in your colour mind's eye :)

I checked out your etsy shop and I really like that Butterscotch colorway you have!

Generally my color faves are purple and green, preferably together. But lately I've been craving lighter, not pastel - more "sunwashed" shades of coral, aqua, golden yellow - you get the idea!

I'm very fond of clear colors/jewel tones and I lean toward the indigo-purple end of things. All that being said, this past year I had 3 different swap partners who like the autumn colors so I've been experimenting with browns and rusts; I cannot wear them close to the face because they make me look sallow, but I'm developing a love for them nevertheless.

I laughed myself silly at the dog paw not being included. :) As for my favorite colors, I like colors that remind me of the ocean, blues and greens. I like my colors rich and saturated but not overly-dyed. I'm flexible as to what else is in them (a hint of orange or perhaps purple?) but I like the overall feeling of the ocean.

momof2 said...

Me, I love Purples, greens and blues highly saturated and true colors. I am looking for a colorway right now that looks like pansies (the perfect one would have lots of yellow and purple with touches of green and blue to offset the other two colors) I also love colors that variations of the same color like shades of purple, shades of blue, shades of pink but highly saturated. Something about highly saturated colors makes me happy!
